Photography Must Haves for a Summer Family Vacation
Every summer our family takes several trips together. We often spend weekends at the cottage and we also always plan a week long vacation with the kids during the year. Taking photos during summer vacation is especially important to me as a mom. Since children grow up so quickly it is always nice to look back and see how they have changed over the years.

To ensure great photos from my family vacations I follow a few guidelines that might be worth considering.

  1. I make sure my digital camera is compact, portable and easy to use.
  2. I take a basic camera with me that requires either a rechargeable battery, or batteries that can be easily replaced.
  3. I make sure I have an appropriate camera bag that is light weight and non-restrictive. When I'm on daytrips with the family the fewer bags the better. Kodak recently introduced a line of fashion bags that are especially convenient since they can double as a purse. Additional information is available at www.kodak.ca.
  4. I always bring along several memory cards. They always fill up faster than you'd think. They also get lost easily and are frequently left in hotel rooms.
  5. Finally, I always take candid shots. They produce better pictures and I always hear fewer complaints from the children about being asked to stop and pose.
Following these basics results in great family photos I can print, save and share with family and friends. I hope you find these guidelines helpful on your next family vacation.
